Super Food seems to be the buzz word and very on trend at the moment. And Turmeric, the yellow Super Spice has a place in this special group.

Turmeric, the yellow super spice has been widely used in Indian and South East Asian cuisine. And now, seems to have expanded its real estate into lattes, biscuits and more.

So what's the hype? Research and studies have shown that the compound found in Turmeric, Curcumin, contains powerful antioxidants. It goes back in time to when this yellow spice was used in Traditional Indian and Chinese medicine to treat a range of conditions, from relief of achy joints to other list of diseases. From here, Turmeric has won its badge as an anti-inflammatory food.

So, should we all be eating this? Like all foods, everything should be eaten in moderation. Why not try it by adding the yellow spice into your repertoire of cooking. Turmeric is an ingredient with a diverse range of use. The warm bitter flavour adds depth to curries, broths and cuisines alike. Yum!
